Best Spiritual Book: The Book of Jonah Review
by Kefa Achenchi
Probably you have heard testimonies of people who were so reluctant to do what God wanted them to do and even attempted to run away from God's presence only to find out that it was an exercise in futility and very much regrettable for one can't run away enough to escape the hand of God and the consequences could be painful to one.Jonah the prophet was such a man who tried hard to run away from God's presence and was reluctant to be sent on mission to the Ninevites. His attempt to run away only ended up in him being thrown into the sea and later in the belly of the great fish that God had prepared. We see him crying out to God for mercy and ready to do what was commissioned to him. God relented of the judgment that was to befall Nineveh and we see God's character of being a merciful and gracious God when His people turn away from sin unto Him."The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy" (Psalm 103:8)
